- Getting five hours’ consecutive sleep on some nights. It might not sound like much, but it’s a vast improvement!
- The book Word Freak. (‘Heartbreak, triumph, genius and obsession in the world of competitive Scrabble.’ YES.)
- My husband’s back feeling (somewhat) better. Thank you to everyone who passed on their well-wishes.
- Watching Mitchell reach that stage of development where he seems to learn at least three new skills every day. Crawling! Clapping! Talking! (And coming soon – sleeping through the night! Surely!)
- The evolution of hugs. Snuggles are for sleepy time – now, when Mitchell cuddles when he’s awake, both arms are flung around your neck for a squeeze. SWOON.
SQUEEZE! |
- Ashleigh’s love of dressing up and pulling faces. Fun and funny all at once.ο»Ώο»Ώ
My fun, funny girl. |
- International Kiss a Ginger Day (12 January).
Kissing our favourite ginger. |
- International Hug Day (or World Hug Day or World Hugging Day or any one of the many different titles I saw!) (21 January).
HUGGITY HUGS! |
- The return of TWIX PODS! (Who needs Tim Tam Chocolicious Bites anyway?!) (Me. I do. If you’re reading this Arnott’s, PLEASE send some.)

Yay for 5 hours, and here’s hoping for an hour extra every month! Your littlies are adorable, with an especially kissable ginger π
Emily says
Yes, I’ll be happy with additional hours creeping in over time.
Kate says
Oh my goodness. Five hours straight, when a rarity, would be heaven. Hope it becomes longer and longer!
Emily says
Thanks Kate! It’s funny how, when you’re used to nothing, five hours feels like heaven! And how quickly, when it’s the norm, it stops being anywhere near enough…
Grace says
Oh, that hug photo melts my heart! Mitchell is just scrumptious, Em! Sounds like January was a great month!
Emily says
Thank you, Grace. Ups and downs, but happy that there were more ups than downs!

Twix Pods?! Oh man, I really did not need to see those when I am desperately trying to keep myself on the lose baby weight track!
And oh baby Mitchell! When did he get so big?!
Emily says
I AM SENDING OUT HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

Aww those kiss/cuddle photos are GORGEOUS and Ashleigh has quite the cheeky look going on. Glad to hear back on the mend. And 5 hours is the best I ever get now and my youngest is nearly 2.5 π xxx

Thanks Em. Back not progressing but at least he can move now! And I did NOT need to hear that!

There’s a place for every kind of hug, but man oh man I love being squeezed back by my bouncing baby boy!
Bron Maxabella says
12 Jan is a good day, but man I hate bring called a ginger. I wonder if Mitchell will feel similarly? In so happy to hear that the back is on the mend – I think my husbie has gone out in sympathy for yours!!!
Cheers to lots and lots more sleep. x
Emily says
Yeah, fair enough! I wonder too. The way he’s growing, he’ll be so tall that no-one will call him anything he doesn’t want to be called!
Sending the lovely wishes you sent last time back to you. Hope hubby gets better soon. x
