Welcome to the first official You learn something new every day guest post! Cue rapturous applause, whistles and foot stamping.
My gorgeous cousin Carla, who you can find over at Carla’s scrappy tales (where you’ll also find super cute cards and digital scrapbook pages) is in charge of today’s lesson, with a story about her four-and-a-half-year-old son:
Rory doesn’t draw much – he has much better things to do with his time (such as riding his bike, playing outside…) He is quite capable of drawing, he just prefers not to. So it was with much excitement (for me) that he sat down the other night and declared, “Mum, I’m going to draw a picture of you”. I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to see it. He has had almost two years at kinder but I have yet to receive a painting or a piece of artwork that wasn’t something he was ‘required’ to make as a Mother’s day or Father’s day gift. Again, there are too many better things to do, such as climbing, running, chasing, swinging….
Anyway, he announced that he has finished his picture and he says, “Look Mum, I’ve drawn you. Here’s your big, fat belly and here’s your tiny little arms and very, very short legs”.
Thanks sweetie, awesome drawing!
Editor’s note: For those of you who don’t know Carla, please know that she has exactly the opposite of a big, fat tummy! And I’ve never noticed tiny arms and short legs. Perhaps I’ll whip out the tape measure at Christmas.
Thanks for the story, Carla.
