It’s 20 December. Five sleeps until a jolly fat man will bring me the Historical Thesaurus of the Oxford English Dictionary (wishful thinking). Or some pyjamas and a DVD or book (more likely).
Everything I’m reading at the moment has a Christmasy flavour to it. I’ve read so many super fun happy happy joy joy twelve days of Christmas rewrites that I thought I’d write one from the perspective of a stay-at-home mum living in the middle of a renovation zone. If you’ll excuse me for fudging some of the numbers, I can get a momentary giggle out of living in chaos.
Ahem.
On this fifth day before Christmas, you know what I can see?
Twelve carpenters hammering
Eleven plasterers sanding
Ten rooms out of action
Nine bags of insulation
Eight bins overflowing
Seven pies for smoko
Six empty Coke cans
Five cigarette butts
Four power tools
Three paint cans
Two tonnes of dust
And a bobcat levelling the backyard.
Bonds, I know you’re interested in re-shooting your ad to suit. Feel free to drop me a line.
What would your ‘twelve days of Christmas’ look like?
Michael says
Hahaha, I was planning on doing a customised ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ on my blog. Please don’t think I copied your idea…
Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve Eve.
Emily says
Not at all. And, unless you copied it word for word, it wouldn’t matter if you did anyway! I’ve seen it everywhere.
Merry Christmas to you, too!
