You have to make things happen

August 28, 2011 By Emily 7 Comments

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a while. For about a year, in fact. What’s taken so long? I’m just too good at playing my own devil’s advocate, and have ummed and aahed about how this blog would be received. ‘Oh great, another stay-at-home mum who thinks she’s god’s gift to the world of blogging.’ Or, ‘You learn something new every day? Original!’

Whatever the reaction, here it is. And first lesson learnt. You can think about doing something, talk about doing something, plan something, weigh up the pros and cons of doing something, and imagine the outcomes of doing something forever if you really want to. But it doesn’t get you very far. So just do it, learn from it, and hopefully have fun along the way.

It can be so, so scary to take that leap. To expose yourself and put your thoughts and feelings out there for the world to see. Congrats to you for making the leap 🙂

It’s so true that it doesn’t matter how much we plan something we just have to do it.

damn right, just do it. I’m the ultimate procrastinator! If I didn’t occasionally force myself to do something, I’d never get anything done at all!
