Anything featuring this guy:
Meeting him. Getting to know him. Watching him grow. Watching him learn. Thinking it would take a while to get used to having him in the family.
Realising he was always meant to be in it.

Anything featuring this girl:
Watching her become a big sister. Seeing her caring side blossom. Watching her teach her brother. Seeing her growing independence and her excitement at starting kinder next year.
Realising she won’t need me forever. Hoping she’ll want me there anyway.

And anything featuring this guy (in the middle):
Watching his love for his children grow. Watching the bonds he has with them develop, both individually as his daughter and son, and collectively as his children. Spending time together as a family.
Realising I’m so glad I’m on this journey with him.
And that we’re all on this journey together.

Each month, I receive a writing prompt as part of a link-up called Writers Reveal. I know that using mostly photos in response to a writing prompt is an odd choice for a self-proclaimed non-photographer, but when I received the prompt ‘My favourite memories of 2013 are…’ from J.C. Wolfe at the Wolfe’s Den, I couldn’t resist.
A picture is worth a thousand words? I’ve written an essay!
Check out the other Writers Reveal posts at Melissa Writes, the Wolfe’s Den, Imagine! Create! Write!, A Parenting Life, ghostnapped, Have a Laugh on Me and Emily Morgan Writes.
What are your favourite memories of 2013?

Oh, this is lovely! What a great opportunity to reflect on what really matters. Thanks so much for being a part of Writers Reveal 2013! We need tshirts or something!
Emily says
Thanks Emily! Sounds good – I’d wear the t-shirt for sure.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and a Happy New Year!

Lovely post, I can’t believe your baby is so big now that has gone so quickly!! Love your book review too. I am still not game enough to borrow from the library, maybe when the kids are about 20!!
Emily says
It has gone WAY too quickly. We love the library for now, but we’ll have to wait and see if Mitchell follows in his calm, order-loving, rule-following big sister’s footsteps!
