You might think that Ashleigh is too young to do anything to embarrass me.
You’d be wrong.
A friend of mine recently came to our house for a visit, bringing the love of her life with her. It being an international romance, it was the first time we’d met him.
We were chatting, munching on nibbles, when Ashleigh realised she was no longer the centre of attention and wandered off. We continued chatting, and then Ashleigh returned brandishing something.
A pair of my undies.
Not just any pair. Beige. Seam-free. Big. You know the ones. We pretend we don’t have them, but we’ve all got one or two pairs. The pairs you need when you’re wearing a lighter-coloured, figure-hugging outfit and don’t want a VPL.
Unfortunately, it took me a while to realise that’s what Ashleigh was flinging around her head like a lasso, so Cameron and our guests got an eyeful. When the penny dropped, I jumped up, mortified, and returned the offending undies to my bedroom. Top drawer. Right at the back.
I returned to the lounge with an embarrassed giggle, and continued chatting. Ashleigh sat with us for a while, then got bored and wandered off again.
Guess what she was doing?
I don’t know how she did it. I don’t know how she found them. I don’t know why she was intent on getting this particular pair of undies out, or any at all for that matter.
But Ashleigh was on a mission to embarrass mum at all costs. She returned with the granny-undies-lasso to the delight of Cameron and our guests, and the embarrassment of yours truly.
This time, they went straight to the bin.
How does your little one embarrass you?

Hahahahahahahaha, oh you poor thing, but I love this post!
My kids are forever embarrassing me.
My youngest is 18 months old and will always get her nappy off and feel around, if you will.
I’m lucky she’s only done it at home or my Mum’s but I nearly died when my Mum asked her if mummy plays with herself like that and she said ‘Yes Nana!’
Hahahahahahahahahaha!

That’s a classic memory forever!! Gosh I think that’s the goal of all kids is to embarrass us when we don’t even know it. Just the other day someone rang the door bell and hubby was just in the mist of getting changed and only in Tshirt and boxers and my 8year old son yelled out to the person outside to wait because dad had to put his shorts on before he could open the door… so embarrassed but lucky it was just the postman and not someone we knew.
