Yesterday
He was just an old guy going grey.
Now he’s famous thanks to one Kanye.
This Sir Paul guy can really play.
Suddenly
He is famous, not some wannabe.
Becoming known to Generation Z.
At 74, fame came suddenly.
Why he wasn’t known, I don’t know.
I couldn’t say.
Now he’s in the spotlight singing with
Humble Kanye.
Yesterday
I had the new track ‘Only One’ on play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
These kids are just joshing, aren’t they?!
Why they had to tweet, I don’t know.
I just can’t think.
They said something dumb, now I long
For a stiff drink.
Yesterday
Tweeting was such a fun game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Some haven’t heard of ‘Yesterday’.
Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

You just levelled up in your already high awesome stakes xx

Thank you! I’m now picturing myself with an awesomeness metre. It’s like a video game life bar.

So glad you started 2015 off with a song Em! Apart from parents not educating their kids on music history (tsk tsk), radio stations should also be held accountable – there’s a cover of Wicked Game going around at the moment and I have not heard one reference to Chris Isaak each time the song is back announced. Everything old is new again I suppose….. Maybe in 50 years time kids will be asking who Kanye is. I can only imagine Kanye’s reaction to that!
Emily says
That’s true – it would be great if the DJs would announce the original! I don’t expect everyone in the world to know everything about music, but don’t tweet me back telling me I’m a moron when I quote what is probably an artist’s most famous song!
Amanda @ Cooker and a Looker says
Bravo Em! Hilarious!
Emily says
Thanks Amanda! A fun way to start the year.

Oh Em, My computer doesn’t have access to hand-clapping emojis but this deserves a standing ovation. I’m going to share it on facebook again and see if anybody I know from a hundred years ago wants to criticise your parenting skills again 🙂
Emily says
Thanks Nicole! And ha – I nearly spat out my drink when I read that! Yes, hopefully there are no judgements to be made about my parenting in reading this one.
