Dad jokes are really bad

Cameron is a wonderful father. He loves his little girl, and has embraced every aspect of fatherhood wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, this includes dad jokes. Not just learning them and saying them, but truly believing that they are funny.

The other night, Cameron heard a joke and just had to share it with me. It didn’t matter that it was midnight, nor that I was fast asleep in bed.

Cam: Em, do you want to hear a cat joke?
Me: (grunt)
Cam: (louder) Em, do you want to hear a cat joke?
Me: Ffffffllllllmmmmmppphhh off (which means ‘please kindly remove yourself from my presence’ in half-awake mouth-full-of-pillow speak)
Cam: Em, do you want to hear a cat joke?
Me: (sigh) No.
Cam: No? (pause) You’ve got to be kitten me!
Me: (silence)
Cam: Get it? Get it?
Me: (silence)
Cam: Teehee.
Me: (silence)
Cam: Good night honey.

He woke me for that? He’s got to be kitten me!
