Hello! Thanks for stopping by. If you’re a new reader, welcome! You’re probably here for the Weekend Rewind. You’re in the right place.
If you’re a regular reader, you’re probably confused. Didn’t I post already today? Well, yes! (And thanks for noticing! You’re just so loyal!) But this week, I am joining up with the super awesome bloggers (and super awesome people) Bron from Maxabella loves, Sonia from Life, Love and Hiccups, Sonia from Sonia Styling and Kelly from A Life Less Frantic to co-host the Weekend Rewind.
The Rewind is a weekly linky party. Every Friday from 8pm, you can link your favourite post from the week with any of these lovely ladies, and they’ll ALL display it! That’s some fancy-pants linking. And this week, you can link right here as well. Right at the bottom of this post.
But don’t scroll down just yet. You’ve come this far. You can read my post first!
If you’re new here, you may not be familiar with my quirks, the main one being that I like to write in rhyme. In particular, I like to rewrite songs. Why? Well, why not? Usually I pick a popular song, a hot current topic, and mash them together. But I wanted to keep it short and sharp this week.
I also just experienced my first day of being child-free mid-week. My daughter started ‘proper’ kinder, and my son started child care.
And I started freaking out.
So here’s a little ditty I wrote about that experience. Five little ducks. No. Sorry. That’s not right. Two little Hawkers. That’s better.
Here we go.
One little Hawker went out one day,
Off to kinder not far away.
Mother Hawker said, “One down, one to go!
“What will I do today? I just don’t know!”
The other little Hawker went out that day,
Off to child care not far away.
Mother Hawker said, “I love you little man! Bye bye!”
And his little lip trembled and he started to cry.
Mother Hawker took her iPad out that day,
Hoping she’d have fun at work and play.
But Mother Hawker felt so awful and weird.
“I miss my kids even more than I’d feared.”
Early afternoon, Mother Hawker went back,
To kinder, and day care, across the track.
Her smile was wide, and she hugged them tight,
And both the little Hawkers slept well that night.
Short and sweet. Because here comes the fun part.
